Barton to get beefier cache, but no bus boost

— 2:16 AM on July 15, 2002

The Inquirer has unearthed some details on AMD's upcoming Barton version of the Athlon XP processor:

AN INTERVIEW with Jan Gutter, a spokesperson for AMD, has revealed that the company's up-and-coming "Barton" chip will have 128K of level one cache and 512K of level two cache.
The article also goes on to state that there will be no front side bus increase for Barton, which is certain to disappoint those less interested in AMD's 64-bit Hammer line of processors.
