Microsoft expands R&D budget

— 11:56 AM on July 25, 2002

C|Net is reporting that Microsoft is pumping more money into R&D:

Gates, speaking at Microsoft's annual meeting with financial analysts at its Redmond, Wash., headquarters, said the company's R&D budget will grow from $4.3 billion last year to $5.2 billion in fiscal 2003, despite the stagnant economy.
Massive R&D budgets have to make it hard for competitors to keep pace with the Redmond giant, and can only be helping Microsoft's move into more and more areas of technology.

Microsoft will also be hiring 5,000 new workers in the coming year, so you might want to dust off your resume and brush up on some of their potential interview questions if you want to work for Bill.
