The other side of alcohol's health benefit

New Scientist has an interesting article on the health benefits of alcohol that some of you might want to read before indulging this weekend.

The researchers found that the health benefits of alcohol only outweighed the risks in men over 34 and women over 55. Below these ages, even light drinkers have a higher risk of death than those who did not drink at all.
It seems that the higher risk of death for younger drinkers is related more to the stupidity and recklessness that alcohol can induce than any specific medical ailment. Looking down at the small scar on my left knee, I think I'm going to have to agree.
