RIAA briefly offers MP3 downloads
It seems that anti-RIAA hackers are not without a sense of irony. For a few hours yesterday morning, the RIAA's own web site hosted some of the very copyrighted MP3 files it's fighting to get off the Internet.
According to reports from those who gained access before the site was taken offline mid-morning, the site briefly housed a dozen downloadable, pirated MP3 files.
There's no end in sight in the battle between the RIAA and proponents of MP3 sharing, and things are only going to get more heated. The fact that the RIAA has to primarily work within existing legal frameworks should make things especially interesting, since most anti-RIAA activists don't those boundaries. Then again, if the RIAA manages to legalize certain tactics, we could see a lot more hitting below the belt.
