Palm OS 6.0 details revealed

— 4:08 PM on October 30, 2002

Though Palm and its licensees have just started selling PDAs based on the latest Palm OS 5.0, the next version of Palm's operating system is what many are waiting for:

Version 6.0 will be as dramatic a change for the platform as OS X was for Apple, or NT was for Microsoft, and represents the culmination of work from the former Be team Palm acquired last year.
Palm OS 6.0 looks quite promising, and should give Palm a much-needed multimedia boost while also revamping the Palm OS' core PIM functionality. The new OS is slated for release in 2003, but it's unclear whether it will be compatible with Palm's latest Tungsten T hardware.
