New DeskNote coming with upgradeable graphics

— 11:14 AM on November 4, 2002

ECS will apparently launch two new DeskNote models this month, further blurring the line between desktops and true notebooks. One of the new DeskNotes will use a Transmeta processor, and another will be based on Intel's Pentium 4 processor. What's especially interesting about the Pentium 4-powered model is that its graphics card will be upgradeable, hopefully to a level that's LAN party-worthy.

The DeskNote concept is already a smart idea, and adding upgradeable graphics to that only makes the platform more attractive. Since ECS already has Athlon XP-based DeskNotes, I'd expect that an AMD-powered model with upgradeable graphics will make its way to the market eventually, giving budget-conscious consumers one more option on the portable computing front.
