ATI's R300: One million served

— 6:09 AM on March 4, 2003

ATI has shipped its one millionth graphics card based on the R300 GPU. The Radeon 9500, 9500 Pro, 9700, and 9700 Pro are all derived from the R300, which debuted six months ago with full support for DirectX 9. Of course, ATI couldn't resist a chance to mention how well its execution has been with R300-based products.

“ATI promised and delivered when it came to our RADEON 9700 and RADEON 9500 products. The performance, features, stability and availability all met or exceeded the expectations of the market,” said Rick Bergman, Senior Vice President of Marketing and General Manager, Desktop, ATI Technologies Inc. “I’m confident that ATI will continue to lead the market with DirectX® 9 solutions. As we have said already, we are on the brink of expanding our offering of DirectX® 9-class products at a variety of price points to satisfy the market, broadening our install base of DirectX® 9 products from one million to millions.”
There's already an "Are you ready for more?" teaser up for the upcoming product line expansion over at ATI's web site. Apparently, they're set to bring more power, visual realism, and immersive gameplay to all of us very soon.

Since I have plenty of "ready" left over from NVIDIA's old "Are you ready?" campaign, I think I can spare a little for ATI this time around.
