Who will get new Pentium 4 bus licenses?
According to this story over at the Inquirer, both ALi and SiS will get licenses for Intel's upcoming 800MHz front side bus after Intel launches its new Pentium 4 platform. Though ATI recently licenses Intel's Pentium M bus, they've yet to acquire a license for Intel's upcoming desktop platform.
Since ALi and SiS apparently won't be granted licenses until after Intel launches its new Pentium 4 platform, there's still plenty of time for ATI to get its hands on a license. It still remains to be seen whether VIA will even try to obtain a license for Intel's new Pentium 4 bus or whether it will continue to make unlicensed chipsets.
