Joshua's coming

— 10:00 PM on February 22, 2000

VIA Technologies announced today the newest incarnation of the Cyrix CPU line, the Joshua. The Joshua is rumored to be king of the low-end chips. It will offer a large, 256KB integrated L2 cache, a 133MHz Intel P6 compatible front-size bus, and a price tag about $100 lower than the comparable AMD K6-2 offering. Unfortunately, they have also included the dreaded PR rating system of past Cyrix chips—brings back old memories of my horrible, egg-frying M1 CPU.
