ALi licenses 800MHz front-side bus

— 5:34 AM on April 21, 2003

ALi is the latest chipset manufacturer to license Intel's new 800MHz front-side bus, joining SiS and VIA in that exclusive club. Apparently, ALi will introduce a new chipset supporting the 800MHz front side bus and single-channel DDR400 memory this quarter

Curiously, ATI has been mum about its core logic chipsets of late, and they've made no mention of any plans to license Intel's new front-side bus. I can see ATI not wanting to tip its hand, but as the Pentium 4 chipset market becomes more crowded, there may be precious little pie left when ATI goes to carve itself a piece.
