MSI and ASUS launch GeForce FX 5900 cards

— 12:00 AM on May 20, 2003

DigiTimes is reporting that MSI and Asustek have launched graphics cards based on NVIDIA's NV35 GPU—the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra—without any apologies. What's significant is that both MSI and ASUS have seen fit to equip their cards with a variation of the Dolby noise reduction system.

MSI's Twin Flow will reduce noise emission to 26 decibels, and ASUS' GameFace will limit its card to less than 30 decibels, among other features. Goodbye, ice cream sandwich. It's nice to see that third-party manufacturers are looking to differentiate their cards by bringing a little something something to the table. Of course, as someone who purchased four (count 'em four) GeForce FX 5800 Ultra cards, this makes me look like a dope. And we're walking and we're walking...

If you're a poor schmo like me and need a good laugh, do yourself a favor and check out this video over at nV News. Make sure to put down the morning coffee before watching. At least the boys at NVIDIA have a sense of humor.
