Another AOL 5.0 class-action suit

— 8:44 PM on February 25, 2000

Tobacco companies, Exxon, and AOL. What do these companies have in common? They've all dumped their harmful products on the public and wouldn't take full responsibility for their actions. AOL now faces a class action suit from a Washington State attorney who has filed class action against tobacco companies and Exxon for the Valdez oil spill. The suit alleges that AOL

knowingly released a version of their software that, without warning, made major changes to users' computer operating systems rendering them unstable, and in some cases, inoperable.
Ouch! I'd be pretty mad, myself.
