TR reader morpheus777 sent in a link to this story over at Yahoo News that details NEC's new fuel cell-powered notebook prototype. NEC won't start selling the notebook until next year, where it should be joined by a fuel cell-sporting notebook from Toshiba.

NEC claims that its fuel cell-powered notebook will initially have a run time of five hours. By 2006 NEC expects to fuel cell-powered notebooks to run as long as 40 hours, though it's not clear whether that estimate also assumes a significant decrease in notebook power consumption.
