Socket 478 Prescott needs new motherboards

AnandTech has confirmed that no, Intel's upcoming Prescott processors won't be compatible with current Pentium 4 motherboards. Unsupported motherboards will include those based on Intel's newest Canterwood and Springdale chipsets. Making matters worse, Prescott will undergo a socket change in Q2 of 2004, killing whatever upgrade path its early adopters may have had.
