New Coppermine stepping = mad speed

— 11:28 AM on March 1, 2000

We reported a while back that Intel was working on a new revision of the Coppermine PIII in order to try to improve yields and get 'em over the 1GHz mark. It looks like those new processors are now starting to fill the supply channels, and the HardOCP has the dirt on how to identify 'em. Pay attention, because one of Kyle's suppliers managed to crank a 550E up to 852MHz and run the pup stable at that speed. Not a bad little overclock.
