Shuttle promises many more XPCs

— 11:09 AM on July 21, 2003

DigiTimes is reporting that, despite challenges from a number of new competitors, Shuttle's XPCs are still selling far better than any other small form factor system. However, MSI apparently has a huge backlog of orders for its innovative MEGA651.

To continue to stay one step ahead of the competition, Shuttle expects to launch a new XPC system every month between now and the end of the year. With five systems to launch, I'd expect Shuttle to have XPCs for AMD's upcoming Athlon 64 and Intel's new Prescott processors, and that still leaves three systems available for Shuttle to do something really daring for the Home Theater PC market. Given Shuttle's recent foray into low cost clusters, a single processor Opteron XPC probably isn't out of the question, either.
