I'm gearing up for the trip to Quakecon. Should be fun. Well, except for the part about the nine-hour drive. I expect to cut that to 7 or 8 hours, though, thanks to my trusty Valentine One. I figure driving to Dallas is as good as flying, what with airport security and rental car hassles. Let's hope my nine-year-old car holds up.
As you can see from the ads around here, Abit will be at Quakecon, along with AMD, NVIDIA, Shuttle, VIA, and others. We should be able to get some updates on what everybody's up to these days. The highlight of the event, of course, has gotta be Doom III. If necessary, I will beat up children, cast aside old ladies, and throw an elbow or two at fellow members of the press in order to get a chance to try out Doom III multiplayer. I watched the E3 video again the other night, and now I think Doom III has me even more excited than Half-Life II. The eerie shadows, creepy-crawly bad guys, and quick-twitch action just look like a very potent combo. Can't wait to try it out.
