Windows XP SP2 hits beta

— 5:05 AM on November 26, 2003

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP is coming, slowly. BetaNews is reporting that SP2 has been released to beta testers, though the update's final release may not happen until Q3 of 2004.

In addition to packing a stack of bug fixes and minor software updates into SP2, Microsoft will roll out new versions of Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, and Windows Update. SP2 will also include a beefed up firewall and new security technologies to help combat worm attacks and hopefully better protect PCs from their biggest security risk: their own users.
