Napster to offer free songs, media players

— 1:01 PM on December 22, 2003

Not free as in Kazaa, free as in beer. Really. CNN is reporting that Napster has formed a marketing alliance with Miller Brewing that will give away music players and audio downloads next summer. Miller joins Pepsi and Coca Cola as the third beverage giant to announce plans to build brand awareness with music downloads, though I suspect Miller and Napster will only be targeting those of legal drinking age.

Not to be outdone by the beverage companies, major credit card companies, airlines, and even McDonalds are considering using music downloads as marketing tools. Would you like an MP3 with that?
