eMachines expands Athlon 64 mobile line

— 5:44 AM on April 5, 2004

eMachines is adding a couple of new Athlon 64 notebooks to its product line. The new notebooks will use mobile Athlon 64 3000+ and 3200+ processors and feature Mobility Radeon 9600 graphics. For just $1,399, mobile gamers will be able to get their hands on the M6805, which features a mobile Athlon 64 3000+, Mobility Radeon 9600, 512MB of memory, 802.11g Wi-Fi, a DVD/CDRW drive, and a 60GB hard drive—not a bad deal for a LAN gamer looking for more portability than a small form factor system.

Curiously, though two of eMachines' five notebook models use mobile Athlon 64 processors, not one of the company's four desktop systems uses an Athlon 64.
