Apple not interested in RealNetworks offer

— 1:12 PM on April 16, 2004

Apple has apparently rebuffed a request by RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser to open up the iPod. Glaser had proposed a tactical alliance that would have made the iPod compatible with RealNetworks' RealPlayer music store and Rhapsody music service, but it appears that Apple wants no part of the deal.

It's really no surprise that Apple snubbed Real's offer. After all, Apple's latest financial results reveal that the company actually shipped more iPods than PCs last quarter, and the iTunes Music Store is easily the most popular online music service.
