DigiTimes pegs Intel launch dates

— 9:21 AM on May 13, 2004

The crack reporters at DigiTimes have no doubt cajoled, arm-twisted, and bullied their ever-reluctant sources at Taiwanese mobo manufacturers for information on Intel's launch plans, with shocking success. The informants coughed up launch dates, including June 21 for the LGA775 Prescott processor with 800MHz bus and Intel's 915-series chipsets. There's no word on the 925 chipset, though, perhaps fueling rumors of a delay on that front. DigiTimes' sources fingered the fourth quarter of this year as the launch target for the P4 model 720 CPU, a Prescott chip with a 1066MHz front-side bus. The mobo makers' are sounding weak-kneed about Prescott power consumption with the faster bus, though.
