Prescott gets NX equivalent

— 12:52 PM on May 14, 2004

The Inquirer has unearthed some very interesting tidbits on Intel's plans for Prescott. For starters, Prescott has an equivalent to AMD's NX switch:

Intel will almost completely switch over to Prescotts by Q3, he said. Intel's version of NX, a security feature that can help prevent viral attack, is called XD and will be switched on in summer.
Prescott will also get clock-throttling technology to help lower heat and power consumption at idle, and Intel will probably move the chip to a 65-nanometer manufacturing process next year.
