Tyan exits graphics card market

— 3:16 PM on June 1, 2004

According to this story over at X-bit Labs, Tyan is bowing out of the graphics card business due to "unprecedented competition in the market." In a world filled with unimaginative reference designs, the innovation that Tyan brought to the graphics table will surely be missed. In addition to offering cards with tweaked board layouts, Tyan's graphics cards were also equipped with hardware monitor capabilities and variable-speed cooling. Let's hope another player can match Tyan's ability to do more than just churn out rebadged reference designs.
