Comdex 2004 canceled

Looks like the decline of Comdex and ascendancy of CES is nearly complete. The organizers of Comdex have pulled the plug on this year's event, according to this story. The story provides a solid analysis of what ails Comdex, including the silliness the show embraced in the midst of the dot-com boom. Comdex first branched out "beyond" the PC, then, when things went wrong, tried to focus solely on business computing. The PC hardware world, especially the enthusiast stuff that made the show fun, was left out in the cold through both swings, landing at CES instead. That's all fine with me, but I wish they'd move CES up to November, so we can all get a look at what's coming for the Christmas season.
