B-Boys' new album: all rhymin', no stealin'
Listen all y'all, the latest Beastie Boys CD is a
sabotage. For European buyers of To the Five Boroughs, the
first song on their new album will be protected by Macrovision
software. To prevent the disc from becoming a pirate treasure, the
'Boys profess that the booty on the disc is guarded as a standard
practice of their label, Capitol Records. The group wants to make it
clear that it was not their choice to introduce copy
controls, and neither UK nor US releases contain them, so what'cha want
may be a disc issued to those countries.
