Kentron 2.0

— 9:16 AM on June 24, 2004

Kentron Technologies' first attempt at Quad Band Memory never really got off the ground, but the company isn't giving up just yet. Engineers at Kentron are working on a new implementation of QBM to overcome the limited vendor support that hindered the first generation. With little-to-no chipset support, Kentron's new design uses a technique not unlike Intel's FB-DIMM, which will allow QBM modules to work with existing DDR slots and memory controllers. According to the article, the new memory will run at 800MHz when it ships in the first half of next year.
