Time to prep for DOOM 3. I saw this at the Shack: instructions for downloading the original DOOM shareware and a front end that will use a modern graphics card to spruce it up a bit. Runs great for me, but then I guess it should run great on just about any of today's PCs. Even now, the game will startle you. However, especially with mouselook on, it's not so hard as it used to be.

As I prep to leave for EverLAN this weekend, I should also tell you about the Texas Gaming Festival planned for later this month. Here are the vitals:

Date: July 23rd-25th 24 hours a day
Location: Austin Airport Hilton on Hwy 71 East of Austin
Cost: $20 in advance, $25 at the door, $10 Sunday pass
Capacity: 400 seat BYOC (bring your own computer) area
They're planning tourneys for all of these games: "Counterstrike; Battlefield 1942; Halo PC; Unreal Tournament 2004; Quake 3 Arena; Painkiller; America's Army; Call of Duty." Y'all may want to check it out.
