AMD releases two new mobile chips

— 9:20 AM on July 19, 2004

Because no one can eat just one, AMD is announcing two new mobile chips: the mobile Athlon 64 3400+ and the mobile Athlon XP-M 2200+. Averatec will be using the mobile Athlon XP-M 2200+ in an ultra-portable form factor system. The new C3500 series is a convertible PC offering both notebook and Tablet PC functionality. This marks the first time that an AMD mobile processor will be powering such a system.

Both Alienware and Epson Direct will be among the first to offer performance-based notebooks based on the Athlon 64 3400+. Epson's EDi CubeF series with the Athlon 64 3400+ inside is available now; Alienware's notebook will be out later this month.
