An update for Gmail users

— 10:06 AM on July 20, 2004

Are you wondering what's up with Gmail? Gmail is Google's answer to Hotmail and Yahoo, and it is currently being beta-tested by a bunch of really cool kids... I mean lucky users. An account is available by invitation-only.

As a result of customer feedback, Gmail users were treated to the following new features last week:

  • Import Contacts
  • Signature options
  • Safari browser support

Other improvements that Google is working on include a plain HTML version of Gmail and POP3 client access. Currently, there is no timetable for a final public release of Google's free e-mail service.
