If you're an owner of an ATI card and you're hoping for better DOOM 3 performance, you may want to check out this thread at Beyond3D, in which one of the forum members claims to have optimized some DOOM 3 shader code to run faster on ATI cards by tweaking the instruction mix. I haven't plowed through the whole thread yet, but folks appear to be getting some minor performance gains. (Thanks to Pete for the link.)
Beyond3D also has a quick interview with John Carmack about DOOM 3 technology in which the ATI tweak is discussed.
Not just for ATI owners is the massive DOOM 3 tweak guide at the excellent TweakGuides.com. This beast has everything from basic system optimization to instructions for demo recording, screenshots, and benchmarks. Nice resource.
