Once upon a time, a young girl drew a picture of a playground. Then she said, "Daddy, can I go and play inside my picture?" Well, fantasy meets reality as Microsoft Research has found an innovative way to turn digital video into an animated cartoon through a method called segmentation. If you remember the movie What Dreams May Come, you'll get a sense of what's going on here. There is a video demonstration of how they made the girl swing from the monkey bars inside her own drawing. Maybe in the future, we'll get to see Jr. Damage and his kid sister playing inside one of their own drawings...
