Abit hypes dual-Opteron mobo for game servers

— 4:39 AM on October 14, 2004

Abit looks set to tackle the gaming market from a new angle with a dual-Opteron board built with game servers in mind. The SU-2S features two 940-pin Opteron sockets, support for up to 8GB of DDR400 memory, four Gigabit Ethernet ports on a PCI-X bus, and an 8-channel Marvell Serial ATA II controller with NCQ and TCQ support. This is definitely a server board, though. Without an AGP slot or even on-board audio, the SU-2S has little appeal as a workstation platform.
