Google Desktop Search debuts

Now this I'm going to have to try out. Google has just released a beta version of its new Desktop Search tool. This program, which runs on Windows, will search through Outlook, Outlook Express, AOL Instant Messenger, IE, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and text documents and return results Google-style. Considering that it's currently easier to search the entire web than it is to search one's own e-mail, this software could be a big step up in local search capabilities.
