Far Cry 1.3 patch released

— 11:50 AM on October 25, 2004

After an abortive attempt at the 1.2 patch, in which the file was released and then recalled, the folks at Crytek have finally released the 1.3 patch for Far Cry. This patch finally adds support for Shader Model 3.0 and 2.0b, plus normal map compression for both NVIDIA (GeForce FX or newer) and ATI (Radeon X800 or newer) cards. Crytek has also improved the look of bump mapping in the game through "improved tangent-space calculation" and disabled anisotropic filtering in some places where it wasn't needed in order to improve performance. The 1.3 patch includes a whole raft of bug fixes, too.
