Google peeps through the Keyhole

In other Google related news today, the company announced that it is acquiring digital mapmaker Keyhole. The stunning "magic carpet ride" 3D maps created by Keyhole software have been featured on CNN during the war to oust Saddam Hussein, and can be sampled for yourself. Owners of large databases take note: flush with IPO cash, Google wants to build up its digital information arsenal, even if it's not sure what to do with it yet. Said Jonathan Rosenberg, Google VP of product development: "We can't wait to get under the hood to see how this service might assist Google users around the world in finding the information they need." Improving Google's geographic search capability might be a start.
