— 12:40 PM on November 3, 2004

Intel will take another stab at integrating Wi-Fi into its desktop chipsets next year. DigiTimes is reporting that Intel's upcoming Lakeport chipset will include a "Caswell 2" module that supports 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi. Intel recently phased out its Wi-Fi-equipped ICH6RW south bridge chip citing a lack of OEM demand.
