Microsoft, Yahoo slow to deliver webmail upgrades

— 3:15 AM on November 19, 2004

It appears that both Microsoft and Yahoo have been slow to deliver promised webmail storage upgrades. Both companies pledged to let users store up to 250MB of email, and although some accounts have been upgraded, others are still stuck with more restrictive storage limits.

Hotmail and Yahoo Mail storage upgrades were likely prompted by Google's promise to offer users of its Gmail webmail service a whopping 1GB of storage. Google announced Gmail way back in April, but the service is still in beta and only available to the general public through invitation.
