NVIDIA Pentium 4 SLI chipset already sampling?

— 9:51 AM on December 2, 2004

In the wake of the recent cross-licensing deal between Intel and NVIDIA, the Inquirer is claiming that NVIDIA's Pentium 4 chipset, complete with support for SLI multi-GPU teaming, is already sampling:

Without a doubt, it’s a Pentium 4 SLI capable chipset and it's already started shipping/sampling. R&D departments of tier one motherboard companies are playing with them and they should have some sample boards ready even now.
The article mentions the likelihood that "Dell likes this idea a lot." Given Dell's refusal to use AMD processors and its commitment to gaming-oriented PCs, I'd imagine that's true. The Inq is expecting boards to arrive in early 2005.
