Intel's dual-core schedule revealed?

— 4:21 AM on January 20, 2005

The Inquirer is reporting that Intel plans to launch a dual-core Presler processor in the first quarter of next year. The new chip will be built using 65-nano fabrication technology and is apparently a "sister chip" of Intel's upcoming Yonah dual-core Pentium M. In the more immediate future, the report suggests that dual-core Smithfield processors could launch as early as the second quarter of this year, which would be well before most had expected the chip.
