Dell preps 24" widescreen LCD

PC Watch has the goods (in Japanese, so you might want to bring along a translator) on Dell's sexy new UltraSharp 2405FPW LCD monitor. The 24" widescreen has a resolution of 1920x1200, 1000:1 contrast ratio, speedy 16ms response time, and a thin bezel that should please multimonitor enthusiasts. The 2405FPW sells for the equivalent of about $1,500 US, so it's hardly cheap. However, with screens like Apple's 23" Cinema display retailing for $1,800, $1,500 seems pretty reasonable for 24 inches.

The 2405FPW isn't listed on Dell's US web site, but the Japanese press release sets a February 16 sale target date for the monitor. I'll take two.

Update: TR regular champs points to Dell's US press release, which reveals that the 2405FPW will go on sale March 1 for only $1,199 in the US.
