— 3:20 AM on February 17, 2005

SiS has finally started mass production and delivery of its PCI Express chipsets. SiS's PCI-E north bridge line includes the SiS656 and SiS649 for Pentium 4 processors, and the SiS756 for Athlon 64s. All three north bridge chips share a new SiS965 south bridge, which packs a couple of lanes of PCI Express, four Serial ATA RAID ports, and Gigabit Ethernet. According to SiS's press release, at least ten motherboard manufacturers have adopted the company's new chipsets, although there's no indication whether the chipsets will be used for enthusiast-oriented products.
