Tyan intros Athlon 64 server board

I know that some folks have been wondering whether they could build a new AMD-based server without paying the ransom for a pair of Opterons. Tyan may have an answer with the introduction of its new Tomcat K8E motherboard, a desktop and/or server platform based on the potent combo of the Athlon 64 and nForce4 Ultra. The board includes a single Socket 939 connector for the CPU, PCI Express expansion slots, support for up to 4G of ECC or non-ECC RAM, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and on-board Rage XL video. The new Tomcat also includes extensive SATA-II RAID options courtesy of the nForce4, making it possibly ideal for a single-processor server.
