Depths of dead pixel policies plumbed

— 11:13 AM on March 16, 2005

Here is an interesting little article explaining and compiling the dead pixel policies for various manufacturers of LCD screens. As they put it, this covers warranty policies from Acer to Yakumo. The article discusses changes to ISO standards for dead pixels, which often influence manufacturer standards. Unfortunately, no company looks ready yet to step forward and offer a zero-defect policy because it's just too expensive. From the looks of things, folks buying LCDs will still have to rely on their own combination of good fortune and the ability to persuade RMA departments through yelling in order to ensure their peace of mind.
