Intel accelerates dual-core Extreme Edition launch

— 10:49 AM on April 11, 2005

Intel has reportedly moved the launch of its dual-core Extreme Edition processor and 955X chipset from the end of May to the middle of this month. The processor is expected to cost $999, with motherboards featuring the 955X chipset expected to list for around $200. Despite accelerating the Extreme Edition platform launch, Intel is apparently content to unleash the rest of its dual-core line, including Pentium D processors and 945P/G chipsets, at the end of May.
