Apple picks new crop of benchmarketing results

— 1:18 PM on April 28, 2005

Fresh from their hyperbolic chamber in Cupertino, Apple has new benchmarks showing just how badly the G5 smokes its x86 competition. In a battery of design, 3D, video processing, and scientific benchmarks, Apple's new dual 2.7GHz PowerMacs are shown outperforming a baseline 3.6GHz Pentium 4 system, and are like kryptonite to AMD processors, with generally bottom-of-the-bushel performance for the Athlon 64 4000+. Fruit-related puns aside, not all of Apple's benchmarks are performed with the same applications in Windows and OS X, so there may be cause to whine about Apple's juiced-up numbers.
