If you don't mind reading text butchered by a German-to-English translation proggy, you'll definitely want to get a look at c't mag's review of the new Athlon Thunderbird. (Or read the orginal German here.) They tested the new Athlon vs. the PIII and "classic" Athlon at 700MHz, and the new AMD looks like the best of the three, clock-for-clock.
The real proof of the T-bird's prowess, however, will be at 1GHz+ speeds, where the classic Athlons hit a serious L2 cache bottleneck. More on this on Monday, I'm sure....
