i820 comparo: SDRAM vs. RDRAM

— 9:51 AM on November 16, 1999

Reader M. van Halen shot us some mail about a nice little comparison at GameSpot between some SDRAM and RDRAM-based systems running Intel's 820 chipset and Coppermine Pentium IIIs. They've even thrown an Athlon 700 into the mix for some of the tests, and the results show the new Intels to be very competitive.

Be aware, however, that this article includes a number of graphs that use something other than zero as a baseline (say, 90 as a baseline when scores range from 100 to 115, for instance). Such graphs tend to exaggerate the true (and often minor) differences between the components tested.
