AMD to release 64-bit Semprons?

— 11:36 AM on June 9, 2005

The Inquirer is claiming that AMD will introduce a line of Sempron processors with 64-bit extensions as early as July. The new chips will apparently be available for Socket 754 and come in five flavors between 2600+ and 3300+. Current Sempron processors lack 64-bit support, but the fact that Intel is already shipping 64-bit Celeron processors in volume may have forced AMD's hand.
