OLED keyboard concept dazzles

— 2:23 AM on July 15, 2005

A number of tech sites are smitten with a concept keyboard on display at Art Lebev Studio. What makes the keyboard, which has been dubbed Optimus, unique is that each key is an independent OLED display. The OLED-powered keys allow the keyboard to easily adapt to different layouts while still providing users with a visual representation of each key's function. In theory, it's a great concept, but that's about all it is at this point. The images on display at Art Lebev Studio's site are all concept renderings, and although the site indicates that patents are pending, there's no indication of whether such a keyboard would be remotely affordable or even technically feasible with current technology.

Tip: You can use the A/Z keys to walk threads.
